Authentic Connection in a Digital World

As wellness professionals, your work is deeply personal. You help clients transform their health, find balance, and improve their wellbeing through genuine human connection.
So, when it comes to your online content, that same authentic connection matters.
We keep seeing wellness businesses using AI to create content, particularly on social media, that could really do with a ‘once over’ in terms of making it more human.
In an industry built on trust and personal connection, generic AI generated content stands out, and not in a good way.
Why humanizing AI content matters for wellness professionals
When you start using AI for your wellness business, it's quite exciting because all of a sudden it's generating content quickly. You can create blogs about nutrition, yoga sequences, meditation guidance, or wellness tips in minutes rather than hours.
But on the other side of that, it's quite generic if you're not using the right prompts, you're not editing, and you're not doing that extra work to really make it your own.
Ask yourself, with the wellness content you're putting out there, is it missing your soul? Is it missing your human sparkle?
When clients come to you for nutritional advice, mental health support, yoga classes, or any wellness service, they're seeking your unique approach and wisdom, not generic advice they could find anywhere.
HERE’S A FACT FOR YOU:
Generic content is often ignored content, which is a worry when you're trying to connect with people seeking wellness support.
You want your content to get their attention and sustain their attention, so that they feel a genuine connection to you and your practice.
According to Dr Karen’s research, she found that as much as 90% of online content could be synthetically generated by 2025 or 2026. In the wellness industry, where personal connection is everything, this presents both a challenge and an opportunity.
The challenge is standing out in a sea of generic content. The opportunity is that by humanizing your AI content, you can create a genuine competitive advantage.

Spotting "AI banality" in wellness content
We call it "AI banality", the clichéd words that AI uses over and over again. In the wellness industry, these stand out even more because your work is so personal and authentic.
When people notice generic, AI generated content, it gives them the ick, and they tune out.
This is especially true for wellness clients who are looking for genuine connection and support, not corporate speak or empty platitudes.
Here are some examples of AI banality commonly showing up in wellness content:
Overused Wellness Terms:
Holistic journey
Transformative experience
Nurture your body
Mindfulness practice
Wellness revolution
Balance mind, body, and spirit
Optimize your health
Clichéd Wellness Phrases:
"Unlock your full wellness potential"
"Elevate your self care routine"
"Transform your relationship with your body"
"Not just physical health, but mental clarity too"
"Take your wellness journey to the next level"
"Unleash your inner healer"
These phrases might be true, but they've become so overused in AI generated wellness content that they've lost their impact. Your clients are seeking YOUR unique approach to wellness, not generic platitudes, so avoid falling into the pits of clichè.
Finding your authentic wellness voice with AI
For AI to actually understand what makes your wellness practice special, you have to tell it. It needs specific instructions that capture your unique philosophy, approach, and voice.
As a yoga teacher, naturopath, nutritionist, therapist, or other wellness professional, your personal journey, training, and philosophy are what make your approach unique. The prompts you give AI are so important to find that unique style.
You can reflect on questions like:
What makes my wellness approach different from others?
What specific language do I use with clients?
What wellness philosophies or traditions inform my practice?
What tone do I use when working one on one with clients?
Once you've identified these elements, you can ask AI to help describe your brand voice. If you have the memory switched on in ChatGPT, try asking it:
"Based on what you remember about our previous conversations, how would you describe my wellness brand voice?"
If you don't have that memory feature, you can upload some of your testimonials, website copy, or social posts and ask it the same question.
From generic to genuine: A wellness content example
Bad prompt: "Write a post about a yoga workshop."
This vague prompt will give you generic content that sounds like any yoga studio anywhere. Generic in = Generic out.
Better prompt: "Using the brand voice attributes that you have just described, please draft an Instagram post about my upcoming restorative yoga workshop for busy professionals experiencing burnout on May 27th at 4:30pm. The workshop focuses on the parasympathetic nervous system and includes breathwork, gentle stretching, and guided meditation. Please avoid AI cliches and write in my warm, down to earth tone. End with a compassionate call to action."

Using client testimonials to humanize your wellness content
Another powerful way to humanize your content is by providing AI with contextual examples from your actual client interactions. With permission (and anonymized), client testimonials and feedback can help AI understand the real impact of your wellness work.
Try this prompt:
"Please use the following anonymized client testimonials for context of my brand voice, and only use the words, language and tone in these examples when generating your output."
This approach is particularly powerful for wellness professionals because your clients often describe the benefits of your work in authentic, emotional language that resonates with potential new clients much more effectively than generic wellness speak.
AI as your wellness content co-pilot, not your replacement

As a wellness professional, your expertise, intuition, and personal connection with clients can never be replaced by AI. Instead, think of AI as a content co-pilot, helping you reach more people with your healing message.
Start by brainstorming with AI, using it to generate ideas for workshops, blog topics, or series of social posts, and then refine these ideas with your specialist wellness knowledge. When brainstorming content ideas, have a back and forth dialogue with the AI just as you might with a colleague.
Never accept the first response because it's usually too generic. With this approach, you are leveraging the speed of AI, but you are adding your layer of wellness expertise and your personal perspective to create truly valuable content for your community.
Content ideas that serve your wellness community
For example, if you ask AI to generate wellness newsletter themes, you might get generic ideas like:
Stress Management
Healthy Eating Tips
Sleep Hygiene
Exercise Routines.
Instead of accepting these, critique them: "The 'Stress Management' topic could work, but it's too general." Then add your refinement: "Let's focus specifically on 'Two-Minute Breathing Techniques for Working Parents' and include the story of how I developed these techniques while raising my own children."
Use AI like a colleague to brainstorm with, but always filter its suggestions through your unique wellness philosophy and approach.
Adding emotion and personal story to wellness content
This is where wellness professionals can truly shine. While AI can generate basic wellness information and advice, it cannot replicate your personal journey, client success stories, or the wisdom you've gained through your practice.
AI is not good with emotion, which is central to wellness work. We need to maintain our humanity by overseeing what it does and injecting our feelings and stories into it.
The AI is really good at delivering logical wellness advice and information, but it's you who delivers the empathy, nuance, and lived experience.
Your clients connect with your wellness business because of YOUR unique journey and approach. Simple ways to humanise your content include:
Adding a personal story about why you became a wellness practitioner
Sharing anonymized client transformation stories (with permission)
Explaining how your own health challenges informed your approach
Describing a moment of insight from your practice or training
Using sensory language that evokes feeling rather than just thinking.
This is particularly important for wellness websites and blogs. According to this article from Search Engine Land, Google is now ranking purely AI generated content at its lowest in terms of search engine optimization and ranking order.
If you don't inject your humanity into it and humanize that content, if you're just copy pasting straight AI and using it on your wellness website, it's going to really tank in terms of ranking.
Using audio features to check the tone of your wellness content
One innovative way to check how humanized your wellness content is would be to read it out yourself or have AI read it back to you.
ChatGPT has a voice mode that can read text aloud, helping you identify if something sounds natural and conversational or stiff and robotic.
For example, here's a comparison of AI generated wellness text:
"Our holistic wellness centre leverages cutting edge methodologies to facilitate optimal health outcomes for clients. We utilise proprietary systems to maximise efficiency and deliver superior results across multiple wellness modalities."
This text is stiff, formal, and full of AI banality. A more humanised version might be:
"At our wellness centre, we help you feel better in your body and calmer in your mind. Our team has created a peaceful space where you can explore different healing approaches, finding what works best for your unique needs."
Try reading your next piece of AI assisted wellness content aloud, specifically checking for authenticity and whether it sounds like something you'd actually say to a client sitting across from you.
Note: To see a full demonstration of this audio technique in action, please watch the webinar recording above where Dr Karen shows exactly how ChatGPT's voice mode can help identify and fix robotic sounding content.
3 Steps to Authentic Wellness Content Using AI
Prompt with Your Healing Philosophy. Teach AI your unique approach to wellness and the specific language you use with clients.
Brainstorm and Refine with Your Expertise. Use AI for initial content ideas, then add your specialist wellness knowledge.
Add Personal Stories and Client Experiences. Inject real examples, transformation stories, and the wisdom you've gained through your practice.
The wellness professional's AI content equation
The equation for success with AI content in the wellness industry is simple:
AI Efficiency + Your Healing Wisdom + Personal Connection
= Authentic Wellness Content
Remember, AI is great for helping you create more content more efficiently, but your personal healing wisdom and genuine client connection are what make your wellness business special.
It can help with generating basic wellness information and structuring content, but it shouldn't replace your authentic voice and unique approach.
The most successful wellness businesses will be those who use AI as a tool to spread their healing message more widely, while maintaining the deep authentic connection that brought clients to them in the first place.
